Wow, I just had to turn on the lights in my office. Yeah! Storms over Lake Lewisville are brewing. We certainly need some rain to begin to refill the lake. Not many folks know but daily the Army Corp of Engineers can release large amounts of water from the lake in an effort to keep floods under control in the DFW area along with providing power sources for towns like Grand Prairie. Recently, Dick and I traveled down the Trinity River in kayaks with some wonderful folks. This was our first time in kayaks so we were a bit apprehensive but our guides, Mike Swopes and crew, put our minds at ease immediately. We started very close to the water releasing area of the lake. It was a great trip and we learned a lot in the process. We are so close to many of natures beauties within the Metroplex it is worth exploring!
