Johnny Appleseed Made a Stop in Roanoke

Have you ever tasted an apple fresh off the tree?  Having grown up in Johnny Appleseed country along Lake Ontario in New York State, apple picking time was a true delight to the taste buds.  We had loads of apple farms and were able to pick our own, drink freshly squeezed apple cider (there is nothing that compares to that taste in my book), apple milkshakes, apple butter, apple fritters, apple pies...you name it apple and it was there.  Local apples to be found and picked in the North Texas area?  Amazing!  Henrietta Creek Orchard is located in North Tarrant County (west end of Lake Grapevine) has apples to pick from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday.  The orchard is just east of Alliance Airport at 14255 Old Denton Rd., Roanoke.  It is suggested that you call before you head out because there are factors, such as weather, that would impact the picking schedule.  The phone number is 817-439-3202.  Happy Apple Picking!
